Spring Snow Sports to Enjoy in Central Oregon

What really makes spring snow sports in Central Oregon so special are the extended seasons. It is no guarantee, but when the snow comes back again and again, it is like getting bonus time to savor the magical snow-covered landscapes. Central Oregon is a winter sports enthusiast paradise, especially in spring time when we can see more comfortable conditions, more light and less crowds. Here are a few of the most popular local snow excursions:

Alpine Snow Sports - Mt. Bachelor offer great classic skiing and snowboarding opportunities and warm cozy lodges for snacks and people watching.

Cross Country and Skate Skiing- Mt. Bachelor Nordic Center, Meissner Nordic Center and Ray Benson Sno-Park are just a few of the popular locations to exert and have a blast in the snow.

Snowmobilers - there are plenty of great spots to enjoy snowmobiling in Central Oregon, including Elk Lake, Newberry Crater, Wanoga Sno-Park and the Edison Sno-Park.

Snow Shoeing - some of the most popular trails include Tumalo Mountain, Virginia Meissner Snowshoe trails, Swampy Lakes, Edison and Todd Lake sno-parks.

Fat Biking - Central Oregon has plenty of trails for Fat Biking fun! Many of the same nordic centers offer great fat biking opportunities as well.

Backcountry skiing - ski touring is not for the faint of heart and a lot of safety guidelines as well as territory boundaries are at play here, but if you are looking for a way to take your sporting to the next level, just look into the excellent options for backcountry excursions that abound in Central Oregon.

Hot Cocoa Afficianado? After a full day of snow fun, it is always surprising to get back into a warmer and more mild Bend. And what better way than some excellent hot cocoa at Sparrow, paired with that cultish Ocean Roll to recall your day's events. See you in the snow!
